The band Behold the Beloved may have single-handedly redeemed the song “Oceans,” for me. It has been on my “Banned If I Were in Charge of Worship Music” list for many years. Doesn’t hurt they use a slice of Aaron Shust’s “My Savior My God” in it.

On the latest episode of The Empowered Parent Podcast, we’re talking about fear responses, and how they drive behavior. (Ours, as well as our kids'.)

I get the sense, going through the Prime Day Kindle deals, that there is a certain segment of romance novel totally about the woman fixing the broken (from war, trauma, etc.) man.

If you’re nostalgic for the way Twitter used to be, give the Old Twitter extension a whirl. I’ve got it running in Brave and my unGoogled Chromium installation. They have one for Firefox, too. Simple and not annoying. github.com/dimdenGD/…

My thanks to whomever originally posted that link; I don’t recall where I saw it.

With today’s big Threads launch, this latest post by CJ Chilvers seems highly relevant: www.cjchilvers.com/blog/open…

“5 actors who should be the next Indiana Jones”

No one. That’s who. The character went out perfectly in Last Crusade. He should’ve stayed gone.

I’m not linking to the clickbait article, but it’s on Digital Trends if you want to search for it with the above headline.

The AOR rabbit hole I have disappeared down today after listening to Revolution Saints' latest single, thanks to Apple Music’s infinite playlist, has been spectacular. Added some new tunes to the library.

Having just watched the original Richard Donner/Christopher Reeve Superman from 1978, I noted several little nods to this film that showed up in Man of Steel.

“There is no heaven that has a little corner of hell in it.”

What a line. Oswald Chambers knew what was up with God’s redemptive work in our lives.

“When You Walk,” from last year’s Q.A.R., shows that Kerry Livgren and Greg X. Volz still have their fastballs, both aging like a great whiskey. Love this song. kerrylivgren.bandcamp.com/track/whe…

Finished Joel Rosenberg’s latest last night, finally completing his Marcus Ryker series I began in mid-April. Stellar books, definitely recommended.

Immediately began Don Bentley’s penultimate foray into the Ryanverse. 📚

Because my sister knows they’re my jam, she sends me this.

No other words for it. That was just flat-out embarrassing. Champions definitely do not wear gold on this Sunday.

Let’s rally for the final game tomorrow, Tigers! #ForeverLSU

“Gotta support the team.”

Champions wear gold on Sundays.

Let’s close this out, LSU baseball!

For those following along via RSS: I will be decoupling retrophisch.net as the domain for my Micro.blog site (explanation forthcoming). I’m not sure how that may affect the RSS feed, so be advised. And thanks for continuing to read!

Oh look, it me.

Well, if anyone needs a good (sports, kinda) cry: theathletic.com/4575069/2…

(Using reader view in Brave routed around paywall graphic for me.)

The only thing I can think after the Austin-to-Dallas drive is, “Why are people?”

Purely from an alliteration aesthetic viewpoint, the Michigan and Pittsburgh @USFL teams should swap nicknames. Michigan Maulers and Pittsburgh Panthers both sing.
