Alison Krauss & Union Station, “A Living Prayer”, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

I’m not sure why I was watching The Tonight Show that night a few years ago, but this was how the show ended. It was the first time I had heard of Alison and Union Station, and wow, what an impression they made. What a talented group of musicians. What a voice she has.

This song became an instant favorite because of this performance. I come back to it again and again. There is something soothing about it, and yet when she hits certain notes on certain lyrics, I get chills. I absolutely love it.

Among other abuses, 90 percent of Qatar’s 1.35 million foreign workers have their passports withheld by employers.

It’s called slavery.

The report is the product of three years’ investigation; certainly worth ten minutes to download and skim, if not a bit longer to read.

Slavery is alive and well in the 21st century, and it’s bringing you the World Cup in nine years. What are you going to do about it, futbol fans?

Since 2003, we shipped over $30 million in care packages and aid to US troops serving overseas. That is a record and so are our bills. Every year things get more expensive – bandwidth, hosting, rent, care package items and most importantly POSTAGE!

This year sees us beginning our transition from only shipping care packages to also include helping the soldiers that have returned home. With all the work the soldiers do, they need us the most right now. We operate totally on donations and usually this is a month-to-month operation. Please help where you can.
