I would add texting to #4. My wife and I stay in constant contact throughout the day not just by voice and e-mail, but by text messaging as well.

Amazon releases its free Kindle for iPhone (and iPod Touch) app. For Kindle books only; if you want all of the other Kindle features, obviously Jeff Bezos and Co. wants you to buy the hardware.
